Ingredients

This is a recipe I thought up after I had a taco salad from Taco Villa in Russellville, Ark. It takes about 10-15 mins to prepare and make, so it is a quick dinner.

Ingredient:

1 lb. hamburger meat

1 onion, either yellow or white

1 tomato

1 pkg of Taco Bell taco seasoning (although I used a different one in the pictures)

1 pkg of Shredded Cheese

1 box of Aztec Salad shells

1 head of lettuce or 1 pkg of Chopped Lettuce already chopped

and either Taco sauce or salad dressing of your choosing, I like to have Fat Free Kraft Catalina.

1 lb of meat will be enough for 2 to 3 salads

The package of taco seasoning is good for one lb of hamburger meat.

Cooking:

Put your meat in a pot to brown. Preheat the oven to 355 degrees. While the meat is browning, you can start chopping the onion, tomatos, and lettuce, if you got the head of lettuce.

Then after the meat is browned, and all the other stuff is chopped up, mix up the taco seasoning into the hamburger meat. By this time the oven should be preheated to 355 degs.

Prepare the little cardboard bowl templates. When you have the little bowls made, flip them upside down and drape the tortillas shells over them. Then slide them into the hot oven. Set your time for about 7 mins.

Continue stirring the seasoned meat, until just about when the 7 mins are up. When the timer dings for the shells remove them from the oven. They should be a little more golden and be able to hold their shape when you turn them over into a plate and remove the cardboard template.

Now you have a edible bowl just waiting for stuff.

Scoop the meat, and fill the bottom of the bowl. There is no set amount meat, just ever amount you want.

Then on top of that put lettuce, then onions, and then tomatos. Sprinkle some cheese on top, and lather with your favorite lathering sauce lol. Taco sauce, catalina dressing, or picante sauce. or whatever you would like on yours.

This makes about 2-3 taco salads.

Enjoy!!!!

Wow, I just learned something new. As much as I cook I've never seen or used those tortillas. I've always made my taco bowl in a home-made way. Well, it looks really good and your directions are clear and simple. yummy!

I used to make the shells, with a strainer and a big pot of hot oil, usually messy lol Although it has the best taste lol

You can also take tortilla shells, and coat them heavily with Pam cooking spray and drape the shells over a small metal mixing bowl too and bake for the same amount of time. Less fattening. I've done that once.

I love your edible bowls. My taco salad is similar except I make my own taco seasoning.
