Kenwood Kdc-148 Review

Review

Here is the Kenwood KDC-148.

Next in line, from the KDC-108, is a cd player fm/am reciever from Kenwood. Still considered as an entry level, it comes with your basic of features, without sacrificing sound quality.

Average retail is about $100.

The features listed on the Kenwood website list as follows:

Features:

•A 1-line 11 digit FL display makes for easy to read display

•CD-R, CD, CD-RW, MP3/WMA playback

•Mixed preset tuning allows both FM and AM stations to be preset on the same preset band

•(1) 2V RCA preamp output

--New Feature in the KDC-148 is a Remote Control--

Other Features:

With 50Wx4, as most modern radios are, this radio does have good quality, easy to control audio settings, for good overall sound.

The front AUX, is great for any mp3 player, cell phone, or anything with an audio output. No need for FM transmitted signals.

Kenwood mixed it up with a red/blue illuminated display. The volume knob, and left and right buttons are blue, while the preset, tuner seek, and eject buttons are red. The buttons are still arranged for easy operation. Finding the right button, without pressing two or more at the same time, is not a problem.

The cd player plays Mp3s/WMAs, and has a pretty good skip resistance.

The volume knob, acts as a menu operation/enter key, as well as volume control. You can scroll through a series of menus, of bass/mid/treble, fader, balance, and one or two other features with ease. After making your changes, the KDC-148 also includes the back button, to back your way out of Menus. Great for making a change and backing out.

Installation:

With standard wiring colors, and the use of proper harness/kits/antenna adapters, installation of the radio is pretty simple..

Conclusion:

KDC-148 raises the bar slightly by adding a remote control, and unchangeable red/blue color scheme. It still has affordable pricing, ease of use, and pretty good sound quality.

If you are looking for a radio that has a remote, but without all the bells and whistles, then I would say the Kenwood KDC-148 is the buy for you. At $100, you almost can't beat it with a stick.
